eXperiment

Took apart an old, broken Betamax videocam and made a fisheye lens for a camphone from 3 of the 15-odd lenses in the assembly. (There's an instructable on the net somewhere, took off from that but couldn't follow to the button since it was really trial and error). Didn't take overnight, though. I took it apart months ago, took apart some more last week and finally assembled during down time yesterday.

LIS 114 Storytelling

Final activity of my class. A storytelling session. One thing different this year was in the choice of material. All the stories were local, no foreign fairytales this time around.

Group 1 chose “Chenelyn! Chenelyn!” by Rhandee Garlitos, continuing with the theme from their previous submission for the photoscene. As I have always pointed out, the first guy (unang salang) always has the hardest part to play since everyone (storytellers and audience) is coming in from the cold. Gelai, who did straight storytelling, did okay for this part.

Group 2 chose “Ang Kamatis ni Peles” by Alberta Angeles. Leo was still his usual ever-animated self, complete with different voices for each character.

Group 3 chose to use their own work entitled "Ang Alamat ng Puto't Dinuguan". As I have said before, it's a nice concept. The use of BG music added to the magic. Seriously, look into having that and the Pipay butterfly work published. Having three people in front, 1 for narration and 2 for characters, was a nice approach. I would have done away with the laptop and stuck with the book instead, too many elements that fight for the audience's attention already.

Last Group did "Ang Alamat ng Pinya". Narration plus acting, modified chamber theater, added a nice involving touch to it. Everyone in class did well. Maybe a bit more practice and a little bit more attention to detail next time guys.

A very special THANK YOU to our audience for that day: Ceean Mauro Zarcal, Roddick Lawrence Magat, Reesha Louise Magat, Rinoa Aeris Lai, Leam Vincent Lai, and Rhian. Thank you thank you very much for sharing your time with us and for putting up with my crazy class. :D
