Abstract:
The lecturer will provide an introduction to Open Access (OA), the major OA initiatives worldwide and some key imperatives that underpin them. In addition, she will discuss its benefits to researchers, parent institutions and to the society in general by opening up research and scholarly outputs.
Drawing on her experience in developing their own publishing programs in the University of Technology , Sydney , the lecturer will demonstrate the ways in which OA and online publishing can facilitate access to research and scholarship. Also, she will discuss the impacts of implementing digital repositories and online programs on librarians, academic and research staff and editorial teams.
Key implementation issues and policies will be highlighted to open discussion with delegates.
