Passionfest held summer workshops for kids of all ages last May 16, 17, May 23 and 24 at the Bonifacio High Street. FlipSpin, the extreme yoyoing club of the Philippines, was part of Hobbes and Landes' exhibit and demo of their skilltoys from the Active People product line.
Active People make the Dark Gem, Triple Action, Flexgap and G-Spin yoyos of the [YO]2 product line. They also have the yoyo-spitop hybrid called the [YO]2 Delta, an offshoot of DocPop's Project 213 from years back. These Active People yoyos are for different skill levels ranging from beginner to professional. Active People also make the Mikido and Kiwido, products from their poi line. The Mikido is the junior version of the Kiwido. They also make the Astrojax, a skilltoy consisting of three balls on a string with the center ball moving freely. The center ball makes for spinning, centrifugal and rotational tricks possible. The Astrojax come in solid bounce rubber or LED light-up variants.
I was supposed to just hang out and take pics, but in true skilltoy demonstrator fashion, fearless FlipSpin leader Edmund volunteered me for an Astrojax demo, which shifted to a Kiwido poi demo mid-program (thanks, Ed. O_o;;, buti na lang natuto ako ng "be prepared for anything and any eventuality" mula sa inyo, hehehe). Though surpised, I found the poi thing quite fun, I got to spin poi with Sir Monching of Planet ZIPS during the product demo.
After that it was hanging out in Bionifacio High Street, dinner at Market, Market, and coffee at Starbucks before heading home. Tiring but fun. Yeah, old man can still spin 'em skilltoys. ^_^
There was some coverage from some newspapers and TV (TV5 and GMA7, I think), dunno when they'll come out.
