UPSLIS.net, Moodling my LIS IT subjects

UPSLIS.net running on Moodle, an LCMS (learning content management system) / CMS (course management system). It's a free, Open Source software package for online learning communities.

I set up UPSLIS.net for my LIS IT subjects (LIS160 and LIS262). No paper trail (save the trees!). Submissions, schedule, some quizzes, reports, lecture notes and grading are all available and done online. Why at my webhost and not UVLE? I had some space to spare and wanted to see how the inner workings work.

Philippine Association of Teachers of Library Science website is now up. PATLS.org running on Joomla at my web host. I just set it up, Prof. Nathalie Dela Torre is the one in charge of the content.

Shuttle XPC cleaning

This is a three-year-old Shuttle XPC used for web and print publishing by one of our graphics staff in Ortigas. It hasn't been opened and cleaned since it was bought. It overheated this November so I had to open it up. All fans weren't working and you could fry an egg because of the heat. You know why? Cobwebs, dust and dirt have built up in many places, hampering optimum functionality (wow, big words :D). Jeez, don't let this happen to your rig. Took me half an afternoon to clean it up.

FlipSpin Blue Saturday

I miss regularly spending my Saturday afternoons with "FlipSpin: yoyo komunidad", the premier yoyoing community of the Philippines. Since I started teaching again (and with the manga load too), I've missed a lot of club meets. The last time I was able to hang out with the guys was last November 3, 2007, a few days before the semester started.

I've been with the group for 4 years (since 2004). A lot of things change and a lot don't. Guys come and go, a lot of guys stay. The kids we used to hang out with are now taller than a lot of us. O_o;;

Yeah, flipspin.org, our website is down. (So is bipolarbears.net.) Too much traffic.

I realized that I also haven't posted any vid of me playing with skilltoys (yoyos, diabolos and spintops). I'm in the vid somewhere. O_o;;

(Thel, if you get to read this and watch the vid, you'll realize why I say the things they do in that Auldey Blazing Teens TV show are easy.)

Of Laptop Repair and Knives

I had to repair the old Sony Vaio PCG-505SX. I removed a leaking internal (bios) battery just to get it to work again. See that green thing near the laptop hinge? That's the part I had to remove. The Vaio's so thin. :D


An officemate got me this knife pair when she went to Dagupan. It's now part of my weapons collection. :D
